Iberian Organic Polishes are made with 96% certified organic ingredients. With the exception of a minute amount of non paraben based preservative, which is necessary for your protection, the remaining oils and butters are conventionally grown. What does this mean to you? Consider that while you are in a warm shower, the pores on your body are wide open and are impacted by the products you use (think shampoo, soap, shower gel etc). Instead of using synthetic ingredients and chemicals, which at best have no health benefits and at worst can cause health issues, why not use something that can do your body some good?
It would be counterintuitive to use anything other than essential oils to scent Iberian Inspirations Body Polishes. For those who are unaware, aromatherapy is the use of volatile plant oils, including essential oils, for psychological and physical well being. Iberian polishes contain essential oils that promote positive well being both physically and emotionally.

Organic Evaporated Cane Juice acts as the exfoliant. It will gently buff away dead flaky cells without being harsh to your skin. Sugar is a natural alpha hydroxy acid which is familiar to those seeking youthful skin. AHA's are an entire family of acids, which can be derived from fruit, milk or sugar. Alpha hydroxy acids work by exfoliating the skin; that is, causing the surface skin cells to slough off, revealing newer, less damaged skin cells beneath. This can be done in a dermatologist's office, using a high concentration of Alpha hydroxy acid, in which case it is known as a 'chemical peel'. Lower concentrations of AHA applied over a longer period of time have a similar effect, but can take weeks or longer for the effects to appear.

It is a non-comodegnic (non pore clogging) material that aids quick absorption. Kokum Butter helps to regenerate tired and worn skin cells and supports skin elasticity and general flexibility of the skin wall.

Vitamin E (tocopherol) Vitamin E plays a crucial role in protecting skin cells and membranes from environmental damage. This protection extends to stopping damage to the skin from UV rays, pollutants and aging. For use in cosmetics, Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant that helps sustain the shelf life of products.
Phenoxyethanol - non paraben based preservative. Phenoxyethanol is one of the most widely used preservatives in personal care products. It provides broad-spectrum, anti-microbial activity against bacteria, yeasts and mold. Phenoxyethanol is used in vaccines produced by the U.S.
CDC.
Preservatives are a necessary evil. They are absolutely necessary in products that either contain water or are exposed to water as they stop mold, yeast, fungus and bacteria from growing. This, of course, is key if you don't want to become extremely ill. The problem is most preservatives have problems associated with them ranging from skin irritation to being a low level carcinogen to causing reproductive problems. They key is to use the exact amount of preservative necessary to keep the product safe and not one drop more. Certain preservatives are clearly more troublesome than others with more data showing that they do indeed pose significant enough health risks. I am constantly on the look out for non paraben based preservatives and will switch to an alternative as soon as I can find a safe alternative..
